Project Brief
Company: Tipping Point Media & Entertainment
Client: USAA Educational Foundation
Initiative: Car Buying Basics (2022) & Home Buying Basics (2023–2024)
Role: Senior Producer, Production Manager, Composer
This two-series partnership with the USAA Educational Foundation focused on delivering accessible, engaging financial literacy tools for military service members and families. Each six-part series translated complex concepts into infotainment-style episodes blending humor, instructional design, and narrative clarity.
The success of Car Buying Basics led directly to the development of Home Buying Basics, establishing a trusted, long-term collaboration. I led both series from scripting through delivery, supporting production logistics, stakeholder alignment, and post workflows, while also composing the original music score for Car Buying Basics.
We were tasked with transforming detailed financial information into digestible, culturally attuned media content for a military audience. Each series required balancing instructional clarity with entertainment value, managing tight production schedules, and executing shoots across diverse locations, including a remote vehicle test track and a virtual production stage.
End-to-End Production Management
Oversaw logistics, scheduling, crew coordination and contracting, vendor/equipment contracting, and on-site execution across both series.
Client Collaboration
Maintained active communication with USAAEF stakeholders to align messaging, tone, and learning outcomes.
Script & Story Development
Provided creative support and co-writing contributions—particularly on Home Buying Basics—ensuring that scripts blended educational goals with narrative flow.

Delivered on time and on budget across two contracts and four years
Car Buying Basics was a full-scale production designed to help junior military service members make informed decisions about vehicle purchases. Styled as a fast-paced infotainment show, the series features two fictional hosts who guide viewers through real-world topics like budgeting, financing, dealer tactics, and insurance, delivered through sketch comedy, parody, and narrative-driven scenarios.
This production had it all. Over three days of principal photography, we brought nearly 45 minutes of scripted content to life across multiple locations. The production included a Russian Arm vehicle rig, aerial drone cinematography, a four-camera 4K setup, and an extensive cast and crew operating under strict COVID-19 protocols. We managed a mobile basecamp at a remote vehicle test track and transformed locations with custom practical props, branded wardrobe including racing suits and pit crew uniforms, and stylized set design.
I also composed the original score for the series, aligning the music with the tone, pace, and humor that drove its instructional impact.
Home Buying Basics guides military families through the homeownership process using a format modeled on popular home renovation and real estate shows. Topics include VA loan eligibility, mortgage budgeting, and key questions to consider when preparing to buy.
This series involved multi-location shoots with a larger cast and tighter turnaround for scripting and production. One episode was produced on Tipping Point’s virtual production stage, requiring a hybrid approach to logistics and creative planning.
These two series continue to serve as key educational tools across digital and classroom environments. Used by the USAA Educational Foundation in outreach and training programs, they offer military families an approachable entry point to important financial literacy topics. The success of Car Buying Basics directly influenced the Foundation’s decision to invest in a second series.
This was instructional media at its best, fun, purposeful, and built on trust. It was an honor to help translate complex content into something approachable, entertaining, and useful for the military community.
With so many talented cast and crew members on these productions, for now, I’ll drop a shout-out to my core creative and production collaborators for helping to keep things aligned across their various roles—from Cars to Homes—through four years of production timelines:
